Lee de Forest, inventor of the vacuum tube, said,
"What have they done with my child, the radio broadcast?”
Despite his disgust with what radio turned into during his lifetime, de Forest was still a fan of the movies. He recieved an Academy Award in 1959 for, "his pioneering inventions which brought sound to the motion picture"1. He also received this star on the Hollywood walk of fame.
